The Scottish Maritime Museum in Irvine houses a nationally recognised collection of historic vessels, art, sculptures, personal items and an interesting collection of shipbuilding tools and machinery.

The Museum is situated within a vast, glass-roofed Victorian Linthouse. This listed building was originally the engine shop of a Glasgow shipyard. It was salvaged and relocated to Irvine in 1991.
